Since it's the start of a new year, why not check all your smoke detectors making sure they all work correctly. Replace batteries if they have been in there more than a year.
Also, if you haven't changed your furnace filters, now would be a great time to do that too.
Do you use filters in your refrigerator? (We do not have water or ice coming into our new refrigerator, so we do not need filters.) Check to see when they have been or need to be changed. We do have a reverse osmosis machine on our water and we do need to change that one about every 6 months.
Replace old burned out light bulbs (I have 2 that need to be replaced. Waiting on my son because I am not allowed to get up on my step ladder.)Make sure you have all your Christmas decorations down. (I always miss at least one thing every year. )If you have ceiling fans, now might be a great time to clean off all the blades and start the new year off "cleaner".
