Berry Kombucha Margaritas
From: Rebecca @ www.foodiewithfamily.com/berry-kombucha-margaritas/
Tart and sweet, refreshing berry Kombucha stands in for most of the lime juice in this modern twist on the classic Margarita; Berry Kombucha Margaritas. With or without the traditional salted rim, you'll reach for this on hot days all summer long!
Prep time: 3 min
Serves: 2
Ingredients
ice
1/2 lime cut into 4 wedges
6 ounces tequila preferably reposado
1 ounce Cointreau or Triple Sec
1/2 cup mixed berries fresh or frozen
16 ounces berry kombucha chilled
optional: kosher salt
Instructions
If a salted rim is desired, pour kosher salt into a plate.
Use a lime wedge to moisten the rim of two tall cocktail glasses.
Then press the wet rims into the salt.
Fill both glasses with ice.
If you did not salt the rims, squeeze 1 lime wedge into each glass.
Add the tequila and Cointreau or Triple Sec to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake until the outside of the shaker is chilled.
Strain into the ice filled glasses.
Top off each glass with with berry kombucha.
Garnish with an additional lime wedge and serve immediately.
Berry Kombucha Margarita Cook’s Notes
I find some kombuchas work better than others in margaritas, but a good rule of thumb is that if you like drinking it plain, it should work. For these Berry Kombucha Margaritas, I use and recommend Synergy’s Gingerberry kombucha. Raspberry Lemonade Kombucha is also delicious
Fresh or frozen mixed berries work equally well for our Berry Kombucha Margaritas. Frozen berries have the added advantage of keeping your drink cooler for longer.
You can opt for or against salting the rim of your glass. While it is the classic way to present a margarita, that definitely sends our Berry Kombucha Margaritas into a borderline savoury territory. That’s not a bad thing if that’s what you want!
