Drop those nuts, pistachios are being recalled like crazy...
Pistachios have come to the forefront as the newest culprit in the latest Salmonella outbreak news. At least 11 people fell ill to Salmonella after eating what are thought to be contaminated pistachios.
The CDC reports that cases were reported in 9 different states, with Arizona and Washington both reporting two cases each. The contaminated nuts have been traced to Paramount Farms, which is located in California. Nuts from this farm are outsourced to both Trader Joe's and Wonderful Pistachio brands, which means cutting a huge loss if all products have to be recalled.
On Wednesday, Wonderful Pistachios voluntarily recalled several of its products. The news comes, ironically, several days after World Pistachio Day.
