Waking up for another beautiful day. As you get older (yes, I am "older") you appreciate just waking up to another day!

Today I am thankful for...
Family farms. They give us the best food without all the pesticides and grow food with love.

Today I am thankful for...
Our rain and snow. Living in the southwest we get very little rain or snow. We have been in a drought for the last several years. We have had rain the last few days and snow in the high country. We need it and I am so thankful for it.

Today I am thankful for...
Pre-made meals. I have not been feeling my best lately, so having most of dinner ready is a plus. Putting it in the crockpot and forgetting about it...priceless. Now, back to taking my nap...

Today I am thankful for...
Clear, clean drinking water. There are counties in the world that do not have clean water; let alone water that comes directly into the home. We are very spoiled with our drinking water.

Today I am thankful for...The men and women that protect our country. Who give their all for us. And their families who sacrifice their time with their loved ones so they can serve us. Also, the 4-legged veterans that put their lives on the line without hesitation. We salute you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. God Bless you all!!!

Today I am thankful for...
All the truckers on the road. They bring us everything from food to unexpected presents. (Thanks Ups and Fed Ex) They are away from their families for long periods of time. Without all the truckers, our shelves would be empty.

Today I am thankful for...
For my internet friends. People I have not met in person, but are dear to me anyway. I now have good friends from all around the world. I sometimes wish I were younger so I could save up and visit them. I am so grateful to the internet for introducing us and keeping us in touch.

Today I am thankful for...
The variety of foods that we have in the grocery stores, farmers markets and backyard gardens. We are very lucky here in the USA to have such a variety available to us. My state is the biggest producer of winter lettuce. Makes it so I can have my fabulous salads every day of the year. Also, we have a bumper crop of citrus trees here. Orange juice, freshly squeezed is a great way to start the day!

Today I am thankful for...
All the professional chefs/cooks that take the time to pass on their expertise and recipes. Especially cooks like Julia Child and Ree the Pioneer Woman that have the home cook in mind. I appreciate all they have done so that I could pass on their recipes and feed my family with a little flare!
Bon Appetit!!

Today I am thankful for...
Whoever invented the inhaler and to whoever discovered the medicine to put into it. I have had a terrible time breathing and have had to use mine more often today. Thank you to all who helped me breathe better today. I appreciate it very much.

Today I am thankful for...
all the world traveling nature photographers. Sometimes they risk life and limb to follow a bear so we can see them catch a salmon in a rushing river or jump off a cliff so we can experience the flight of eagles. They take me around the world right in my living room. They take me to places I never knew existed and inspire me to get out and experience the world around me.

Today I am thankful for...
My parents. I was adopted at 2 1/2 y.o. and they brought me up with a wonderful sense of family with lots of love and discipline. To my mom for teaching me how to make a home and be proud of it. I am not as good at it as she was, but I keep trying. To my dad who taught me to love this country and have faith in God. I'm also very thankful that I was raised in the 50's and 60's. I had the best time. The music was the best (and still is...), where I lived was amazing and we were not worried about the outside world as much as they are today.

Today I am thankful for...
National Adoption Day! As I said yesterday, I was adopted. If you have room in your home and heart, please consider adoption. You will make some child's dream come true!
Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, across the United States, it is National Adoption Day. This day raises awareness of the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting for permanent, loving families. This day has helped the dreams of many children and families come true. On November 23, 2014, many courts and communities came together to finalize thousands of adoptions of children from foster care. There are more than 300 events that are held annually on National Adoption Day as the finalization of the dreams become a reality. In total, there has been more than 40,000 children that have been adopted from foster care on National Adoption Day.
