Candy canes are a classic Christmas candy. From eating them to decorating with them, candy canes just say Christmas to most of us. Candy canes are great for eating plain, but they are also great to use in baking around the holidays. Today I am sharing a simple recipe for candy cane frosting that is perfect for so many desserts during the holidays. You can use it for frosting cakes, cupcakes, and even for using in a cookie sandwich. It is festive, fun, and delicious!
Ingredients: 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup butter, softened 4 cups confectioners’ (powdered)sugar 1/3 – 1/2 cup crushed candy canes or peppermint candy (this amount will depend on how strong you like the candy cane flavor)
Instructions: For the frosting, beat the cream cheese and butter in a large bowl until smooth. Add powdered sugar and beat for several minutes or until smooth. Add crushed candy canes and mix well. Frost cookies, cupcakes, cakes, etc. Enjoy!
