Sausage Brunch CasseroleFrom: homegrownbeets.com/Every time I bring this to a party I always have a few people ask me for the recipe because it is so delicious! It is so easy to make. In fact you can even throw it together the night before and bake it the next day right before you serve it. We love to eat this casserole with sour cream and salsa! Yum! Serves 8 to 10Ingredients: 5 links sweet or mild Italian sausage, casings removed 2 large apples (I use Gala) , peeled, cored & thinly sliced 9 slices white bread, crusts removed & diced 1 tsp. ground mustard 1 1/2 Cups whole milk 2 Cups grated cheddar cheese 15 large eggs
Instructions: In a skillet over medium heat, brown sausage well breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Once cooked, transfer meat to a 13 x 9 inch casserole dish. Leave the sausage grease and fat in the skillet. Add your sliced apples to the skillet and cook over medium heat until they are soft. Combine bread, apples, mustard, milk, cheese, and eggs in a mixing bowl. Pour mixture on top of the meat in the casserole dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover and continue to bake another 25 to 30 minutes. The casserole is done when a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.
