How to make oats bunsBy: Sowmya @ www.creativesaga.com/Bread baking is really addictive. When you bake once, you feel like trying out more recipes. Ingredients 1 cup Oats (quick cooking) 2 1/2 cups Bread flour 1 cup Milk 2 tbsp Brown sugar 1 tbsp Salt- Yeast- 1 package 1/4 cup Warm water (hand bearable heat) 1 tbsp Butter 1/2 tbsp Oil/shortening
Method-Heat the milk. Stir in the oats. Add brown sugar, slat and butter. Stir to mix. Let the mixture cool to lukewarm. Meanwhile, add the yeast in warm water. It will begin to foam. Add the yeast mixture in a big mixing bowl. Add the milk mixture and 1 cup of the flour. Beat till the batter is smooth Add the remaining flour, enough to form a soft dough. Mix with hands until the dough is non sticky and elastic.(should spring back when you press it.) Knead for 8 to 10 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl coated with oil or shortening. Cover with a kitchen towel and allow it to rise for about 1 1/2 hour. Punch down the dough and turn on a floured board. Pinch a small portion(lemon sized) of the dough. Make a smooth ball. Flatted it slightly. Place on a well greased baking tray. Repeat the same with rest of the dough. When placing the buns on a baking tray, leave some space between the two buns. Allow it to rise for about 30-40 minutes. Brush some melted butter+milk mixture of the buns. Bake at 180c or 350F for 15 -20 minutes or till done.Copyright ©2008- 2013 Creative Saga.
