Magic Cookie Bars
By: Marla @ marlameridith.com/
Hi guys! I’m thinking since you made it to the middle of the week it’s time for some sugary treats! Have you ever had Magic Cookie Bars? (Also known as Seven Layer Bars) My mom used to make them all the time when my brother and I were kids. I remember coming home from school & diving into a freshly baked pan of chocolate bliss. I wanted to re-create the same sweet experience for my kids, so that’s what I did with these!
What’s all the Magic about? What are the seven layers? Great question! You can do pretty much what you want. For instance I omitted the traditional nuts in this recipe, because my son hates them. Instead I added a layer of mini marshmallows and toffee pieces. Heck, if you are all ready going super, sticky sweet then why not add more sticky & sugar, right?!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Yield: 18 magic cookie bars
Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
10 whole graham crackers, crushed (about 1½ cups crumbs)
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
1 cup toffee pieces
1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit with the rack in the middle.
Spray a 9X13 baking dish with cooking spray and line with parchment paper.
Have some paper hanging over the sides for easy removal of the bars.
Spray again.
Combine the graham crackers and butter in a bowl.
Press this mixture into the bottom of the pan.
Layer on the remainder of the ingredients in the order listed.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, the coconut will be golden brown.
Let cool to room temperature (about 2 hours) before slicing.
