Herbs De Provençe
Herbs De Provençe is a blend of herbs found in the southeast France. Until the 1970's they were herbs people in the area gathered in the fields, but companies decided to produce a homogeneous mixture to sell. Based upon a cookbook author from the 1910's it contains (note there are numerous recipes containing other herbs): 3 tablespoons dried thyme 2 tablespoons dried savory 1 tablespoon dried oregano 3 teaspoons dried rosemary 2 teaspoons dried marjoram 1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers (optional)
DIRECTIONS Combine herbs, and store in an airtight container at room temperature. Lavender is only found in the North American market. It's thought it's because North Americans associate Provençe with fields of wild lavender. You can mix your own, but look closely at what it would cost as it appears based upon online listed prices a bottle would cost a little over $5. I would question when debating purchase versus mix how often you would utilize the blend and if it's available in your area premixed, or if you would have to order it. I honestly cannot say I've ever seen a bottle of lavender flowers in my local grocery store. I hope that helps some.
